Azores - 2005

I decided to make a slightly different trip to the island of Sao Miguel in Azores: since the island was fairly small it did not make any sense to change hotel all the time. So this time I took my old trusted Samsonite instead of backpack and booked a 3-star hotel from the small village of Povoacao.

This proved to be an excellent choice since the whole island (especially Povoacao) was one of the most beautiful and fascinating places I've ever been to. The nature and the scenery was unbelievable - and the variety of different flowers, trees and terrains was amazing.

I did lots of hiking and some cycling during my one-week stay there. For beachlife and partying Azores is not the place to be but for chilling out, hiking and enjoying the beauty of nature it is a perfect location.
